Melany Jane Walker, 59, passed away on December 2, 2019, in Tulsa, Oklahoma surrounded by her loving family.
Melany was born on July 10, 1960, in Hampshire, UK to Horace and Iris Walker. She spent her first ten years in England and then her family moved to Adelaide, Australia. She found her way to the US at the age of 20.
Melany's God given talents were many. She was a hair stylist for over twenty years in Tulsa. She then enjoyed a second career in jewelry -sterling silver wire wrapped pendants, earrings and bracelets – and was most proud of her Tree of Life designed pendant. She also excelled as a seamstress, knitter, cook and fisherman.
She first began dating Jerry in 2011, after years of cutting his hair, and they were married in 2013 at Southern Hills Baptist Church with Josh Lawrence officiating the ceremony. Melany became a United States citizen on July 8, 2015. Together they enjoyed traveling the world visiting relatives and collecting rocks and minerals. Her most memorable adventure was her journey to Israel, where she was baptized in the Jordan River. They also spent time together selling rocks and minerals in the Oklahoma area.
She was an active member of Southern Hills Baptist Church, and also worked there as an administrative assistant. She volunteered there: having sung in the choir and helped with celebrate recovery. She fully supported the Inside Out Re-Entry Services and Gateway House organization which helps women inmates to reintegrate into society and reunite inmate moms with their children.
She is survived by her husband, Gerald "Jerry" Nagel, daughters, Miranda Deere Saied, and her husband, Michael, Callie Deere, step daughter, Stacy Nagel Berghall, and her husband, Ben, step son, Stephen Nagel, and his wife, Jennifer, six grandchildren, brothers, Philip Walker, and his wife, Karen, Robert Walker, and his wife, Jen'eva, and brother in law, Bill Huxtable.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Horace and Iris (Belverstone) Walker, and her sister, Carol Huxtable (Walker).
