Meredith Ann Torkelson (Nolan) passed away on December 24, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of love and devotion to her family. Born on October 26, 1953, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, Meredith was the youngest daughter of Thomas Patrick Nolan and Frances Ann Brandenburg (Nolan).
She grew up in Tulsa alongside her two siblings, Tom Nolan and Monica Woodard (Nolan). Meredith graduated from Tulsa Central High School in 1971 and went on to attend the University of Oklahoma in Norman, where she pursued her education and met the love of her life, Ronnie Torkelson. The two shared a bond that became the cornerstone of her life.
In the mid-1980s, during a challenging recession, Meredith, Ronnie, and their son, Andre, relocated to Sarasota, Florida. On May 1, 1986, Meredith and her brother, Tom Nolan, founded a political consulting and commercial advertising business in Bradenton, Florida-The Nolan Group, formerly Nolan Advertising. Together, they successfully ran the company for over 35 years, a testament to their hard work and dedication. For nearly 20 of those years, their mother, Frances, joined them in the family business, working alongside her children until she was nearly 80 years old. Frances's involvement reflected the deep love and joy their family shared.
Meredith's greatest pride and joy was her son, Andre, whom she loved unconditionally. In 2002, Andre joined the family business, continuing the legacy of commitment and collaboration that Meredith, Tom, and Frances had built.
In 2018, Meredith and Ronnie returned to her hometown of Tulsa, where she found great joy in reconnecting with her cousin and best friend, Susie Eustice. The two shared a special bond that brought Meredith immense happiness throughout her life.
Meredith was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas Patrick Nolan and Frances Ann Brandenburg. She is survived by her loving husband, Ronnie Torkelson; her devoted son, Andre Torkelson, and daughter-in-love, Danielle Torkelson, of Minneapolis, Minnesota; her brother, Tom Nolan, of Jacksonville, Florida; her sister, Monica Woodard (Nolan), and brother-in-love, Stewart Woodard, of Lawrenceville, Georgia; and her niece and nephews, whom she loved dearly.
Though her passing was sudden and unexpected, her family takes comfort in knowing she did not endure a long and difficult illness. Meredith lived a beautiful life, full of love, laughter, and dedication to her family. She will be missed beyond words by all who were blessed to know her.
A private celebration of life was held in her honor, just as she would have wanted.
When you think of Meredith, may her memory bring a smile to your face, just as she continues to do for her family.
