Michael Joseph Sposato went to meet his heavenly Father on March 25, 2014. He was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma on August 31, 1949 to Betty and the late Vince Sposato. He is survived by his wife Deborah of 40 years and his two children, Adriana and Michael. He is survived by his mother Mrs. Betty Sposato along with numerous siblings and their families, Dr. Richard and Beth Sposato, Jim and Helen Sposato, Betty and Rick Muratet, Mary and Dr. Don Potter, Nancy Sposato, Donna and Dr. Gary Cannon, Tina Messick, Angie and Jerry Wagstaff, Stephanie and Dr. Robert Garrett, and Joe and Cathy Sposato. He was preceded in death by his brother Tony Sposato. He had 42 nieces and nephews as well as 41 great nieces and nephews.
Michael went to Marquette then graduated from Tulsa Central High School in 1968. Shortly thereafter, he enlisted in the Marines. He served in Vietnam and was wounded several times. After serving in Vietnam, he returned to Oklahoma and pursued his college degree at NSU in Tahlequah, Oklahoma. He graduated with a bachelor's in special education. Michael met the love of his life Deborah and they were married in 1974. He continued his college education, graduating with two masters, a MBA and MHA from Pfieffer University..
They made their home in Raleigh-Durham, North Carolina and raised their two children. Michael was active in the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church He volunteered for Boy Scouts, joined his kids in martial arts earning his black belt. He was an avid hunter and fisherman as well as an excellent rifleman and sharp shooter. He learned carpentry at a young age from his father Vince. Michael continued to work with wood and always said, measure twice cut once. He later established his own construction company. After moving to Raleigh-Durham, he was employed by the city of Durham working as the superintendent in .the storm water division and street maintenance.
Recently, Michael and Deborah returned to Tulsa in order to be closer to his family. He was a wonderful husband, father, son and brother. Michael, you are loved and will be dearly missed.
Rosary will be at Fitzgerald Ivy Chapel, 1402 South Boulder Avenue, Thursday, 6:30 p.m., and Funeral Mass will be Friday, 10:00 a.m., at Christ the King Church. Interment will be Monday, March 31, at Fort Gibson National Cemetery.
