Michelle Jené Leak passed from this life on Thursday, December 7, 2017, at the
age of 66, surrounded by her loving family at St. John Hospital in Tulsa, OK after
a brief illness.
Michelle was born in Tulsa, OK to Bill and Ursa Lee (Duncan) Curtis on August
28, 1951. Reared and educated in Tulsa, she graduated from McClain High
School in 1969.
In September of 1967, Michelle met a fellow McClain graduate, Darrell Leak, at
the local hamburger stand and not long after they began dating. After Darrell
returned home from Vietnam, they were married on September 25, 1970 in
Miami, OK. In September of 1973, the couple welcomed the birth of their
daughter, Stephanie. The family lived in Tulsa until 1975, when they decided to
move to Owasso. Michelle loved the community of Owasso and was proud to call
it home.
In August of 2005, Michelle earned the new name of "Lolli" with the birth of her
twin granddaughters, Chloe and Sophie. She was so proud of her granddaughters
and enjoyed each and every minute she spent with them.
Michelle had many hobbies and interests throughout her life. Music, dancing,
quilting, sewing, crocheting, cake decorating, cooking, and baking brought her
joy and she loved to share her creations with family and friends. There was also
a love of animals of all kinds. Pets were always a part of her life, from dogs to
cats, but that love also extended to caring for the wildlife in her yard.
Her kind, caring, and loving spirit, along with her willingness to do for others will
be missed by those who loved her.
Survivors include her husband of 47 years, Darrell; daughter, Stephanie Steely
and her husband Jeremy, of Owasso, OK; granddaughters, Chloe and Sophie;
brother, Mike Curtis of Tulsa, OK; sister, Lynne Curtis of Owasso, OK; brother-in-
laws, Gary Leak and David Leak, both of Tulsa, OK. Michelle was preceded in
death by her parents.
