Mildred Sue Coonce, 78, passed away peacefully on January 4, 2025, surrounded by family members.
Mildred was born on February 18,1946, in Celina, Tennessee to Paul Colson and Mary Magdalene Nolan. She was one of eight children and spent her childhood in both Celina and Cookeville before graduating from Celina High School. After high school, she spent her college years at Tennessee Tech, where she met her husband John, whom she was married to for 57 years prior to her death.
Mildred was a beloved wife and mother known for her great sense of humor, generosity, and kind heart. She loved spending time with her family, traveling, dancing, and, more recently, doting on her great-granddaughter Vivienne. She was also an avid bridge player and often participated in local tournaments and events.
Mildred is survived by her husband John of Tulsa; her children John (Sara) and Mike (Jennifer) of Tulsa; her grandchildren Morgan (AJ) of Oklahoma City and Ben of Tulsa; her great-granddaughter Vivienne of Oklahoma City; her siblings Edwina Elmore of Crossville, Tennessee, Linda Larimore of New Albany, Indiana and Pat Poston of Cookeville, Tennessee.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00pm on Monday, January 13, 2024, at the Warren Chapel at Montereau with a reception to follow from 3:00pm-5:00pm at Rue 6800 at Montereau.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Catholic Charities of Eastern Oklahoma or the American Cancer Society.
