Obituary

Morris Glazer, a kind and gentle man, died Monday, June 23, 2014 in Tulsa, Oklahoma, after a long and full life.

Morris "Moe" Glazer was born in Tulsa on May 24, 1925, to Russian immigrants Zlata and Sam Glazer. His parents, brother Bill and sister Fannie were part of a strong Jewish community in Tulsa and Morris was a first generation American. He graduated from Tulsa Central High School where he worked on the school newspaper. He served in the U.S Navy, during both WWII and the Korean Conflict, and then earned a B.A. in journalism at The University of Oklahoma. In 1951 he married Steva Miller Glazer and they were blessed with three children. He briefly worked as editor of Henryetta's daily newspaper and returned to Tulsa to work at Victory Supply Company, an oil field and refinery equipment business owned by his brother, Bill Glazer.

Moe often volunteered his journalistic, comedic and public speaking skills to the Jewish community. One of his gifts is B'nai Emunah's 50th Anniversary commemorative book, a yearlong labor of love. He enjoyed collecting the many testimonials and photos, writing and organizing this history of the congregation.

In 1989, Moe was Stage Manager for Tulsa's Jewish musical theater production, "Joseph's Dream." The female lead was his pre-Navy sweetheart, Harriet Hyman. The two rekindled a long-dormant flame, and married the loves of their lives in 1990. A wonderful byproduct of this was Moe's eventual joining the staff (voluntary and employed) of the Tulsa Jewish Retirement and Health Care Center. In addition to his help with activities, office skills and photography, Moe's journalistic expertise was again put to use. He composed monthly columns for the Tulsa Jewish Review called "The Lighter Side" as well as editing the "The Chatterbox" for the Center.

As is the case for most who give of themselves, the return for him was immeasurable. He will be remembered for his graciousness, kindness and good humor. His children wish to thank the incredible staff at Tulsa Jewish Retirement and Health Care Center.

He is survived by his children Ann Dee Lee and Chris Lee; Kim Glazer and Kelly Howe; Jon and Starla Glazer; Adam and Michele Ritholz; Emily Ritholz and Timothy Reusing; and grandsons Dan Lee, Ben Lee, Jesse Ritholz, Nathan Ritholz, Alex Reusing and Max Reusing. He is also survived by sister-in-law Leona Glazer, much loved nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 25, 2014, 2:00 p.m., at Temple Israel, 2004 E 22nd Pl, Tulsa. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to the Tulsa Jewish Retirement and Health Care Center, 2025 E 71st St, Tulsa, OK 74136.
