Nancy Jo Barnard passed away peacefully with her family by her side, in the late evening on Sunday, August 13, 2017. She was born on September 2, 1928, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, to Josephine Canary and Cecil Canary.

Nancy was extremely devoted to her family. Her home was fondly known as "Grand Central Station" where friends and family gathered for dinners, holidays, and parties. No matter how many people showed up, she had the ability to squeeze in an extra chair and fill another plate. Nancy was an incredible entertainer and was always the life of the party. Her home will be remembered as the place where memories were made and fun was had by all. She had a special way of making everyone feel as if they were the most important person in the world.

Nancy's caring, giving and loving ways will forever be etched in the hearts of her family and friends. She is survived by her children: Teri Ritz, George Ferguson (Deborah), Rebecca Barnard, Charles Barnard, Kelly Athey, Tracy Hardison (Michael); grandchildren: Felicia Ritz, Ananda Ritz, Stesha Snow, Nigel Clark, Gabriel Brierley, Sherry Shay, Erica Laley, Rachel Laley; seven great grand children; her caregiver, Lena Woodruff, and staff; and many other loving family, friends and the many that called her "MOM."

She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Betty Lou Walker (Rex); and son, Mark Barnard.

Mass will be held at Christ the King Catholic Church, of which Nancy was a lifetime parishioner, 1520 S. Rockford Ave. 1:00 p.m. Saturday, August 19, 2017.
