Nancy Carolyn Mailath Harris died Monday, June 23, 2014. Nancy was born on December 14, 1940 in Gary, Indiana, the daughter of Dan and Ethel (Mandel) Mailath. The family moved to Commerce, Oklahoma in her youth. Nancy was the Valedictorian of her graduating class at Commerce High. She graduated from Oklahoma State University with a B.S. in Education after earning her A.A. from Northeastern A&M. She was an Outstanding Norse Star at Northeastern A&M and made numerous trips to perform, including the junior college Rose Bowl.
Upon graduation, Nancy taught first grade in Long Beach, CA. Nancy married Calvin Harris in Miami, OK in 1964. She taught 4th grade in McCune, KS until moving to Munster, IN. Catherine and Gregory were born while living in Indiana. The family later moved to Chesterfield, MO. Following her divorce, Nancy moved to Tulsa, OK. Nancy was a devoted mother, always wanting the best for her children and grandchildren.
Nancy worked more than 20 years for the Corps of Engineers and retired in 2010 from Social Security Administration, Office of Disability Adjudication and Review as a Legal Assistant. In her retirement, she enjoying exercising at HealthZone and the new friends she met there these past few years. Nancy valued the many friends she had throughout her life.
Preceded in death by her parents, she is survived by daughter Cathy (Joe) Gallagher of St. Charles, MO, son Greg (Leigh) Harris of Louisville, CO, granddaughters Lauren Gallagher and Gretah Harris as well as siblings Dan (Sharon) Mailath and Danette (Darrell) Brown. She is also survived by Aunts Harriet (Bob) Onda, Paulette (Jim) Baker, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins and dear friends.

Memorial donations are being accepted in Nancy's honor at the American Cancer Society and the Humane Society. Rosary 1:00-1:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 25, 2014 followed by a visitation from 1:30-2:00 p.m. and Mass of Christian Burial at 2:00 p.m. all at Saint Bernard of Clairvaux Church. Interment will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday at G.A.R. Cemetery in Miami, OK.
