Nathalie C. Menges Hughes was born in Ost, Kansas, on October 13, 1930 to Rose and Frank Menges.
She fulfilled many roles in her lifetime, the most important being that of wife and mother. As a military wife she established homes in The Alaska Territory, Maine, Florida, Hawaii, Kansas and Tulsa, Oklahhoma. She wrote her husband daily and managed the home during his tours of duty during the Vietnam War.
Nathalie enjoyed crosswords, Jeopardy, bridge, mystery novels, works of nonfiction and old movies on TCM. She was a member of Church of the Resurrection. Nathalie showed great courage with her 5 ½ year struggle with cancer but died on May 29, 2013, at home surrounded by family.
Survivors include husband Robert, son Robert Jr. (Jill), daughters Mary Beth DeMier and Alison Burke (Chris), and four grandchildren.
Visitation will be Sunday, Noon until 5:00 p.m., at Fitzgerald Ivy Chapel, 1402 South Boulder Avenue. Prayer Service will be 7:00 p.m., Sunday, and Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, 10:00 a.m., both at Church of the Resurrection, 4804 South Fulton.
