Nellie Elizabeth Artz passed peacefully to her heavenly home on June 10,2013 at age 94. She was born September 5, 1918, in Couch, MO to Eddie and Irma Pinkley.
After graduating from high school, she moved to Kansas City, MO where she met the love of her life, George Herman Artz, on a blind date. They married August 15, 1941 in Tulsa, but unfortunately only had 15 years together before George's unexpected death. With two young daughters to raise, she was suddenly thrown into the workforce. She worked Avon sales and Sears and Froug's Department
Stores. She then worked for The Oral Roberts Evangelistic Association for 23 years. Before retiring, she also worked at The David Livingstone Foundation.
Nellie was especially proud of her two trips to Korea to bring orphans back to the United States to be adopted. In retirement, she enjoyed helping in various
capacities at her church, Carbondale Assembly, volunteering and always stopping to enjoy a garage sale. Being a woman of strong faith, she set a shining example for her family and friends.
Nellie was preceded in death by her parents, husband George and three siblings.
She is survived by her daughters Karen Arner (husband Howie) of Houston, TX and Rebecca Wallace (husband Wayne), grandsons Christian Lobaugh (wife Ingrid)
and Ryan Smith (wife Amy) great-grandchildren Rachel Lobaugh, Anna Lobaugh, Sophia Smith, Isabelle Smith and Barrett Smith all of Tulsa, and nephew Thomas Pinkley of Providence Village, TX and niece Patsy Goodbrake (husband Tom) of Clinton, MO.
The family would like to thank Grace Hospice for their loving and supportive care.
