This is no ordinary obituary, because Nicky was no ordinary boy. Nicholas Erin Bartlett started changing the world for the better on January 26th, 1992. Nicky called Iowa his birthplace, one of the few Bartlett's not born in Oklahoma. The day Nick was brought into this world, he faced his first challenge, of which he would have many more throughout his long life. The challenge? Always to show every person who doubted him that love can do amazing things. The love Mom and Dad showed Nicky on his very first day and every day since, would serve as a lesson to his Bubba's, Ubba, extended family and everyone who met Nick. Nicholas took this lesson of love and changed lives with it. Nick was truly a selfless person, giving anything that was asked of him with a simple "Yea!" A man who could only speak a few words, Nicky displayed his love for his family, friends, teachers and strangers who wanted to meet this angel, through his warm smile, his big green eyes, his slobbery kisses, his loud, full belly laugh and his always happy personality. Nick was a boy who didn't need much to be happy; he loved apple juice, Blues Clues, singing with his family, having his Bubba's play with his perfect hair and tickle his freckled face with their make-up brushes, eating chocolate and laughing with his Ubba when Momma wasn't looking, watching football and cussing the Razorbacks and Red Sox with his Dadda on the weekends, and giving his Momma an endless amount of kisses, eating bowl after bowl of her spaghetti and showing her that she was the best Mom any boy could have. Nicky loved his family in a way that no language has found a word for, but Nick especially loved his Momma. Nick's ability to love is the greatest gift our family will receive. Nick's love will be missed, but more importantly, we are all here to carry his love on to others.
Love you always, Ubba and Bubba's

HEAVEN'S VERY SPECIAL CHILD
A meeting was held quite far from Earth.
"It's time again for another birth,"
Said the Angels to the LORD above,
"This Special Child will need much love.
His progress may seem very slow,
Accomplishments he may not show
And he'll require extra care
From the folks he meets way down there.
He may not run or laugh or play;
His thoughts may seem quite far away.
In many ways he won't adapt,
And he'll be known as handicapped.
So let's be careful where he's sent,
We want his life to be content,
Please, LORD, find the parents who
Will do a special job for you.
They will not realize right away
The leading role they're asked to play,
But with this child sent from above
Comes stronger faith and richer love.
And soon they'll know the privilege given
In caring for their gift from Heaven.
Their precious charge, so meek and mild,
Is HEAVEN'S VERY SPECIAL CHILD."
