Ora Cecilia Barber (1938 - 2019)

Ora C. Barber, 80 years old, was born as the youngest child to Emeric and Lena Gaspard of Marksville, Louisiana. Her family moved to Alexandria, where she went to and graduated from  the catholic all girls Providence High School. She met a young private from the U.S. Airforce, Arthur Bud Barber, from Tulsa. They soon married and then moved to Tulsa after he was discharged.

Ora was a homemaker raising three children in the home. She and her husband later opened their own business, Art's Graphic Services, Inc., where Ora was the Office Manager.

Ora loved: fishing almost every weekend, bowling in the Charter Mixed Couples League at Rose Bowl Lanes on Friday nights, playing cards at friends homes while all the kids played together, attending University of Tulsa Basketball and Football games, day trips on weekends with other couples from church, teaching catechism for fourth graders, activities as a member/officer of the St. Francis Xavier Womens Club, watching the OKC Thunder on TV, but mostly, spending time with her family gathering at her home, enjoying her home cooked meals, and watching the children playing on her driveway and hanging out on the front porch.

She is preceded in death by: her parents,Emeric and Lena Gaspard; her sister, Lou; and brothers, Emeric and Marshall; her husband, Arthur B. Barber, Sr.; son, Bryan Kelton Barber; grandson, Jaron Barber; four infant grandchildren; and three infant great-grandchildren.

Ora is survived by: daughter, Sheredith A. Grant and husband Patrick; son, Arthur B. Barber II and wife Lynette; wife of Bryan, Debbie Hughes; grandchildren, Rev. Father John Grant, Robert Grant and wife Haley, Trisha Short and husband Ryan, Daniel Grant and wife Rachel, Anthony Barber and wife Elizabeth, David Barber and wife Beth, Amy Noojin and husband Michael, Kari Hunter and husband Gary; sixteen great-grandchildren.

She lived a beautiful and joyful vocation as wife, mother and grandmother.

In lieu of flowers, please honor Ora with donations to: Diocese of Tulsa Catholic Charities, American Diabetes Associatiion, The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, or St Jude Children's Hospital.

Visitation will be Sunday, 2 - 4 PM, at Fitzgerald Ivy Chapel, 14th and South Boulder Avenue. Rosary will be Monday February 11th, 7 PM and Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, February 12th, 10:30 AM, both at St. Francis Xavier Parish, Tulsa.
