Obituary

It is with deep sorrow and shattered hearts that we announce the passing of our cherished mother, Patricia Sue (Young) Dickey, known to many simply as Patti. Born on September 27, 1950, Patti's wings carried her to the garden of angels from her home in Tulsa, Oklahoma, on the 17th of September 2025, leaving a void that can never be filled. Her journey on this earth was one marked by immense love, a constant sense of compassion, and unwavering faith, reminding us that we control our attitudes and choose to live a life of meaningful acts.

Patti was preceded in death by her brother Mike Young and her parents, Kay and Martin Young. She is survived by her two sons, Kenneth Martin "Kenny" Dickey and Patrick Wayne Dickey, and her brother John Young. Though our hearts are heavy, we find comfort in the memories, the lessons and the love she gave so freely.

Patti was a lifelong member of The Parish of Christ the King Catholic Church. She graduated from Bishop Kelly High School in 1968, then attended Oklahoma State University, where she received her degree in Early Childhood Education in 1972. She held a deep affection for education, reflected in her dedication to Tulsa Public Schools as a kindergarten teacher for over forty years, she spent the majority of her career at Patrick Henry Elementary School. She had a profound impact on generations of children whose hugs she always embraced. Her passion was for the youngest learners, her classroom was a sanctuary of color, sunshine, learning, laughter and growth, her teachings resonate in thousands of minds, echo in their hearts, and inspire their actions. A beautiful soul who cared deeply about God, faith, the power of prayer, and a life of eternal peace.

Patti was beautiful, strong, resilient, funny, perhaps a tad crazy, and always the prankster lurking behind you. She enjoyed spoiling her granddogs, Jack and Mr. Parks, and watching classic movies which took her to her happy place. The greatest lesson she shared with us was the importance of family, friends, and community, never losing sight of her duty to serve and educate.

We say goodbye for now, to a remarkable mother, sister, aunt, and friend, who lived life with grace and dignity. As we mourn her loss, we also celebrate a life well lived, however gone too soon.

As you close your eyes in rest, may all your pain and troubles be lost in God's paradise, filled with continuous light. You will forever be on our minds and in our hearts.

A Rosary will be held on Thursday, September 25, 2025, at 7 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Friday, September 26th, at 11 AM. Both services will be at Christ the King Catholic Church, 1520 S Rockford Ave, in Tulsa. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Tulsa.
