Obituary

Patricia Sloan Manning, 88, a lifelong resident of Tulsa, OK, died peacefully at her home surrounded by family on Sunday, April 20, 2014. She was born on February 7, 1926 in Tulsa, OK, to James Wallace and Mary Rose Quick Sloan. Pat was the youngest of five sisters: Mary Catherine Courtney, Frances Rosalind Thomas, Martha Jean Spielman, and Margaret Helen Walker, and brother, John Walter. Pat shared fond memories of traveling with her family to Ontario, Canada and spending time at Lake Frances Park in Arkansas.

She graduated high school from the Barstow School in Kansas City, MO. Pat attended the University of Arizona where she received a B.A. in Geology from the Arizona School of Mines to pursue her interest in the family's company, Sloan Oil and Gas.   While attending college, she met and fell in love with Thomas Edward Manning. They were married in 1947.

She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters, brother, husband, sons Mark and Thomas Sloan Manning, and son in-law Stephen Hugh McGowan. She is survived by her daughters Joan Manning, Patty Manning, and Lee Manning of Tulsa, OK, Mary Rose McGowan of Inola, OK, Susie John (David) of Tarpon Springs, FL, Mugs Williams (John) of Derwood, MD, daughters in-law Cathy Manning of Tulsa, OK, and Laurie Manning of Ft. Worth, TX, 7 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Pat was an advisor and assessor for the Tulsa county Equalization Board, a Realtor, and vice president of Manning Energy Inc., an oil and gas leasing company. She was a volunteer nurse aid for the war effort and a member of Kappa Alpha Theta, the Tulsa Junior League, and the Church of Saint Mary.

Pat will be remembered for her generosity and love of family. She had many dear friends and was loved by all. The family thanks and is very grateful for the care and comfort provided to Mom by St. John Hospice and the nursing staff at St. John hospital. Harvard Ave Tulsa, OK 74115.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m., Thursday, April 24, 2014, at Church of Saint Mary.
