Paul A. April, MD Rheumatology and Internal Medicine, retired, passed away in Tulsa, OK on May 21, 2017 at the age of 87. He spent 53 plus years in private practice beginning in Utica Square and then spent the remaining years located on South Yale, adjacent to St. Francis Hospital. He was a 1955 graduate of NYU, Internship and Residency at Buffalo General Hospital, and Fellowship at University of Texas SW.
Moving from Texas to New Jersey, Paul worked for Squibb Pharmaceutical, prior to entering private practice in Tulsa. His devotion to his work was apparent as he spent as much time as needed listening to and examining his patients. A comment often expressed about Paul was that he was straight forward, to the point and a no-nonsense type physician. Relaxation included reading medical journals, running, swimming, photography and family.
His wife, the late Helen E. April, played a central role in his success, working in his office and as homemaker, keeping tabs on their son, Bryan April, and daughters, Jane Liner and Carol April.
In later years Paul and Helen enjoyed visiting their children and grandchildren in Houston, San Antonio, Denver and Edmond. He leaves a sister, Evelyn Glasser of Gramercy, New Jersey, and grandchildren that include: Dr. Andrea Liner, the daughter of Richard and Jane Liner of Denver; and Blake April and wife Madelyn April, and Morgan April, the children and daughter-in-law of Bryan and Tamara April, of Edmond.
Graveside services will be at 2:00 p.m., on Thursday, May 25, 2017, at Rose Hill Memorial Park Cemetery, Old Temple Section.
Following the graveside service, a 3:30 p.m. memorial service will be at Zarrow Pointe, 2025 East 71st Street, also in Tulsa.
