Paul James Martell was born in Menasha, Wisconsin April 4, 1930, the ninth child of Joseph Martell and Rose Konshak Martell. He graduated from St. Mary's High School, Menasha, Wisconsin in 1948. He received a basketball scholarship to attend Marquette University, Milwaukee. He graduated with a degree in Civil Engineering, November 1952. His first job was at the Phillips Ammonia Plant at Cactus, Texas. He met Patricia one summer when she was home from college. They married April 23, 1955 and moved to Spokane, Washington where he was a construction manager for Phillip's service stations in the northwest. He worked in that field in Phoenix, Arizona and also out of Amarillo, Texas. His father-in-law worked at the Phillips Atomic Energy Division in Idaho Falls, Idaho. Paul applied and got a job there to be near family. When Phillips left the atomic site, Paul chose to stay with Phillips, so he moved his family to Bartlesville, Oklahoma in 1966. He became a Fire Protection Engineer. He worked on Ecofisk in the North Sea. On retiring he was hired by Sentry Insurance, Stevens Point, Wisconsin as their Fire Protection Engineer. He retired from that in 1992 and moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma to be near his children. He is survived by two brothers; Richard Martell, 91 years, Elmer Martell, 87 and twin sisters, Sister Christina and Sister Lillian Martell, 85; Patricia Martell, his wife; children; Craig Patrick Martell, Paul James Martell, Jr., Deborah (Duda) Martell, Kristen Nichol Martell, Ashley Cheri Martell, Jason Paul Martell, Matthew James Martell, Mary Ann Martell (Duke), Christopher Charles Duke, Taylor Allison Duke, James Edward Martell, Stephanie (Sisler) Martell, Michael James Martell and Jonathan Patrick Martell. Paul loved playing tennis and riding bikes. He rode in Free Wheel several times. He also enjoyed studying Civil War history, taking long road trips, yard work and music. Paul died of melanoma cancer.
