Paul was born April 8, 1940 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, to Margaret C. and Stephen M. Richard. He is preceded in death by his sister, Edith M. Schmidt and her spouse, Robert L. Schmidt. Paul is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Virginia, their son, Eric (Paula), niece Terri Horn (Tony), and nephews Richard (Beth), Bryan, and Phillip Schmidt.

Paul graduated from North Catholic High School and earned degrees in Mathematics and Physics from Duquesne University in Pittsburgh. He was a Veteran of the United States Air Force.

Paul retired from Southwestern Power Administration, and was formerly employed by National Steel Corporation and Westinghouse Astronuclear Laboratory.

Paul was a parishioner at Saint Bernards of Clairvaux for 30 years, and was a fourth degree member of the Knights of Columbus. Paul enjoyed singing in the chancel choir for over 25 years, and loved technology, fantasy football, and all things Pittsburgh (especially the Steelers, Pirates, and Penguins).

The family wishes to thank the staff of the St. Francis Renal Dialysis Center for their kindness, dedication, and care.

Visitation hours will be from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Fitzgerald Southwood Colonial Chapel on Thursday.

A rosary will be prayed at Fitzgerald Southwood Colonial Chapel at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday

The Funeral Mass will occur at Saint Bernard of Clairvaux Church at 10 a.m. on Friday.
