Peggy Jean Ames, of Tulsa, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, August 17, 2018, at the age of 84 years after a long illness. She was born to Don Martin Bailey and Evelyn Whittington Bailey at Morningside Laying-In Hospital in Tulsa on July 18, 1934. Peggy graduated from Union High School in 1952 and worked as a secretary at Morrlane Company.
She was united in marriage to Frederick Peter Ames at Church of the Madalene in Tulsa on June 5, 1954. Fred was commissioned in the United States Air Force in 1954 and thus began a twenty-year adventure with living overseas and all across the United States. They returned to Tulsa in 1975. They celebrated 64 years of marriage this year.
Peggy is survived by her husband, Frederick, of the home, and their four children: Michael Ames (Janet) of Owasso, Philip Ames (Anne) of Tulsa, Mary Anna Brinton of Jenks, and Frederick P. Ames II (Eileen) of Tulsa. Her thirteen grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren will sorely miss her. Peggy was predeceased by her parents.
A Rosary will be held on Tuesday, August 21st at 9:00 am at Church of Saint Mary followed by visitation with the family. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 am at the same location. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery. A reception for family and friends will be Tuesday after the burial, at Fitzgerald Southwood Colonial Chapel, 3612 E. 91st St. in Tulsa.The family has requested that memorial donations in Peggy's name may be made to The Wounded Warrior Project, 4899 Belfort Road, Suite 300
