Obituary

Peggy Bullock was born on June 20, 1928 in Tulsa, Oklahoma to Somers Hayes and Margaret Everhart Smith. She died on January 22, 2016 in Tulsa.
Peggy studied Spanish for several years at the University of Louisiana, Lafayette. She worked for Braniff Airlines then as a bilingual secretary at Phillips Petroleum in Bartlesville, Oklahoma where she met her husband, Jack. They were married on June 30, 1960 in Rogers, Arkansas. In the early 1970s they moved the family to Abu Dhabi, U.A.E. then Cochabamba, Bolivia. They also lived in Lafayette, Louisiana and Denver, Colorado before retiring to Tulsa.
When her children were grown, Peggy returned to school and received a B.A. in Early Childhood Education from Northeastern State University. She taught as a substitute teacher and also did occasional Spanish/English translation work for businesses and later as a volunteer at Xavier Medical Clinic, Tulsa. Peggy loved music, had a beautiful contralto voice, and was a longtime member of the choir at Christ the King church. She also was a voracious reader and continually surrounded by books. She was a talented letter writer and kept in touch with a widely scattered circle of friends through her long, newsy letters.
Her family would like to extend their deep gratitude to the staff of Tulsa Jewish Retirement and Health Center and The Parke Assisted Living Center for their great kindness and wonderful care of Peggy.
Peggy is survived by her brother Paul Smith, sister-in-law Carolynn (Roseville, CA), and nephew Steven Smith (Redwood City, CA); son Marc Bullock, daughter-in-law Donna (Tulsa) and grandson Marc Bullock (Dallas, TX); daughters Becky Bullock (Seattle, WA), Emily Bullock and grandson Nickolas Emmons (West Chester, PA), Margaret Bullock (Tacoma, WA). Remembrances to Xavier Medical Clinic or Christ the King Catholic Church, both of Tulsa. Funeral Mass 10:00 a.m., Wednesday at Christ the King Catholic Church.
