Peter Patrick Byrne passed away peacefully at Porta Caeli House on October 20,2023.
He was born on May 2,1947 in New York City, New York to Peter and Mary Byrne.
He enlisted in the Navy Reserve in 1964 and served 7 years.
On June 19,1971 he married the love of his life, Sharon Ryan, and they shared 52 wonderful years together.
Peter was a volunteer with the fire department in West Hamilton Beach, Howard Beach,
New York from 1971-1975. He also enjoyed fire buffing.
He and Sharon relocated to Tulsa, Oklahoma in 1975 with American Airlines and retired after 25 years with Saber as a computer specialist.
He earned his Associates Degrees from Tulsa Community College and St. Gregory's College.
In 1968 he became a member of the Knights of Columbus with 55 dedicated years of service, performing charitable works as a 4th Degree and Grand Knight at 4721 Council.
In addition, he held several offices in the State Council of Oklahoma.
He also was a spiritual member of the Oblates of Oklahoma Order, co-founder of the Irish American Club of Tulsa existing for 40 years, and volunteered at Catholic Charities and St Francis Hospital.
Peter was ordained as a Deacon of the Roman Catholic Church on June 12, 2011 to serve the Lord. He was assigned to the Church of the Resurrection. His pastoral duties were
assisting the clergy, serving as Chaplain of St Francis Hospital South and St John's Hospital
Broken Arrow, and visiting nursing homes and the home bound.
He leaves behind his beloved wife Sharon, brother-in-law & sister-in-law, Michael
and Karen Moran, sister-in-law, Ellen Florio, nephews Michael (Gwen),
Edward (Jessica), nieces Patricia, Kerri, Erin (George), great- nephews & nieces,
Ryan, Jessica, Hailey, Maeve, Emily, Riley, Logan, Lily, Joseph & Sofia, along with extended family, Dolores Wiesman and her family.
He was preceded in death his mother Mary, father Peter, brother Robert and sister Patricia.
