Obituary

Phil was born on August 10th, 1949 in the southside of Chicago in the predominately Polish neighborhood of Roseland. His Parents were Joseph & Julia Franczyk and he had two older Brothers (John & Greg), as well as a younger Sister (Cathy). He attended a Catholic Grammar School, as well as an all boys Catholic High School in Chicago. Phil played quarterback for the high school football team, as well as catcher for the baseball team. He was very proud to have played in the powerful Catholic League, where the city championship football game was played in Soldier Field. He received a full athletic scholarship for football to The University of New Mexico, where he majored in Accounting. Phil met Carol, the love of his life, during his sophomore year in 1969. They married on August 30th, 1969 in Albuquerque and gave birth to their first born child, Lance, the following year. Phil joined Northwestern Mutual as a college intern in December of 1970, while finishing his degree at The University of New Mexico. He went on to become a full-time agent for Northwestern Mutual after he graduated and achieved many milestones with the company, including becoming a Managing Partner, as well as a Vice President with Northwestern Mutual. Phil and Carol gave birth to two more children, Kelly in 1973 and Brian in 1979. The Franczyk family moved around as Phil advanced his career with the company, and they lived in Milwaukee, Fort Worth, and eventually settled in Tulsa, where they have lived for 22 years. Phil retired in 2008 and enjoyed being with family, traveling, golfing and fishing. He was very involved with the Community. He was active in the Tulsa Men's Club and was on the board of Friends of Catholic Education. He is survived by his wife (Carol), his children (Lance, Kelly, Brian), and his six Grandsons (Charles, Thomas, Phillip, Matthew, Samuel, and Peter). He was a devout Husband, Father, Grandfather, Brother and his legacy will live on for generations. May his love and kindness live on in all of us!
