Obituary

Phyllis "Wanna Cookie?" Miriam Hart Raskin was born to doting parents on February 26, 1932, and gave her last smile on August 2, 2025, just hours before her death. To the very end, Phyllis was sweet, sensitive, and appreciative.

Phyllis had a rich life filled with a close circle of some of the most amazing friends a person could ever experience. This was no accident as she naturally, and intentionally, maintained those friendships throughout her lifetime.

Her family continues as an expression of her warmth, grace, charm, and ever-bountiful love and care. Phyllis leaves the broken hearts of her children Debby Raskin, Greg Raskin, Robert Raskin, daughters-in-law, Corey Williams, Amy Miller, grandchildren, Lily Raskin, Sophie Raskin, Gabby Raskin-Irwin, Sierra Livingston, Camden Livingston.

Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents, Gertrude and Otto Hart; sister Sylvia Golsen, Sylvia's husband Jack Golsen; brother Marvin Hart, son-in-law Don Irwin, cousin Ben Kraut, nephew Randy Hart, and her husband, soulmate, best friend, and boyfriend of 80 years, Howard L. Raskin.

In many ways, Phyllis lived a life charmed with love and comfort. She did, like everyone of this world, survive pronounced setbacks, disappointments, and grief. Each time she experienced heartache, she bound her wounds and helped those near to her heal, grow, and gracefully continue.

Phyllis was renowned in the Jewish community and beyond for her positivity, kindness, thoughtfulness, and accessibility. Well known for her prowess in all things aromatic and tasty, she brought sweetness to life; foremost, her brownies, chocolate cake, blintzes, raspberry bars, and M&M cookies.

Phyllis had a simple sense of style and an approach to life that was at once classy, never flashy, put together and thoughtful. Whether a table beautifully presented, a meal carefully curated, she blended color, taste, and smell. Her home was open and inviting to all, reflecting her calm and care.

The warmth and compassion of Phyllis lives in all those who had the fortune of knowing her. She was a person who brought out the best in everyone she knew, leaving this world a better place.
