Obituary

Polly Pollock Holway, 91, died
suddenly Sunday, January 15,
2012. Born November 10, 1920
in Cherokee, OK, Polly grew up
in Tulsa.

She met her husband, William Nye Holway, in grade school. They had been married 64 years at the time of his death in 2007. After her graduation from Lindenwood College, they married. She joined him for his assignments in the Navy until they could move back to Tulsa where they lived the rest of their lives.

In the mid 1940's, Polly and Bill built a lake home on what is now called "Holway Point" at Grand Lake. They could pick the perfect spot because the family firm of W.R. Holway and Associates
designed the historic GRDA project. Whether just visiting for the day, vacationing for a week, or retreating for a weekend,
"Holway Point" was always a hub of
water and boating activities, fun, good food, entertainment, and most of all love.

Polly welcomed in their home literally hundreds of family, friends, relatives, church family,
and business friends. Her effervescence, warmth, and authenticity radiated to of all
those lucky enough to be in her presence.

Always busy with activities, Polly was a Pi Beta Phi at OU, member of the Jr. League of Tulsa, Tulsa Boys Home, volunteer at the Tulsa Psychiatric Center, worked at the polls for the Tulsa County Election Board, and was involved in numerous Unitarian
church-related groups at
the local, district and national
levels.

Polly and Bill joined All Souls in 1948 and were the founding
members of Hope Unitarian Church in 1968. She contributed to both churches until her death.

A most recent and delightful
highlight of Polly's life was
being included in her granddaughter's "honeymoon" cruise
which included 17 family members
and friends. Her family meant everything to Polly. She was an inspiration and mentor to all who knew her.

Polly is survived by her loving family: sister Shirley Barnum and John of Wichita,KS, daughter Marcia Schaefer and Sherrill
Womeldorff, of Tulsa, OK; daughter Shirley and Brad Adams of Disney, OK; son William
P. and Barbara Hamilton-Holway of Berkeley CA, 11 grandchildren and 15 ½ great grandchildren in their blended families, numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service honoring Polly's life will be held at All Souls Unitarian Church on Saturday, January 21st at 2 PM. The service will be streamed live on the Internet at www.allsoulschurch.org .

Friends are making contributions honoring her life to the Hope Development Foundation through Hope Unitarian Church, 8432 South Sheridan Road, Tulsa, OK 74133.
