Richard Knox Jeffrey, age 83, of Tulsa, OK passed away on April 9, 2026. Richard was born in St. Louis, Missouri on April 8, 1943, to Jean and Warren Jeffrey. His family later moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma, and in 1960 Richard graduated from Edison High School as a proud Eagle. After graduation he attended the University of Tulsa, before enlisting in the United States Navy in 1962. Richard served our country for four and a half years, ending his tenure as an AVIATION BOATSWAIN'S MATE (AIRCRAFT HANDLER) PETTY OFFICER 2ND CLASS .Richard later graduated from Oklahoma State University and was affiliated with Kappa Alpha Order.
Richard dedicated his career as a financial advisor to helping people secure their futures. His career began at Bache, and later he gained experience working at Dean Witter and Morgan Stanley. Richard retired from Morgan Stanley in 2004.
Through his passion for youth and collegiate soccer and baseball, Richard proudly earned the nickname "Mr. Ref". For 15 years and 25 years, respectively, he could be found on the field chatting with players and creating an environment of good sportsmanship.
Richard's home away from home was the Oaks Country Club. He cherished and had a love for golf and the camaraderie on the course with his group, the Sunshine Boys. His favorite event was the members tournament, which he won in 2024 for his age bracket.
With all of these accomplishments and hobbies, Richard cherished nothing more than his family. Richard was a doting husband for 56 years to his wife, Sue. Together they welcomed two beautiful children, Debbie and Todd. Richard was an unwavering support for his children and their families. He took the title of Papa proudly, always present and cheering on his granddaughters at all of their events.
Richard's memory will live on through the stories of his many adventures - stories he told with such joy that you felt like you were right there with him. And he had some great ones! His smile and sense of humor lit up every room, leaving a lasting warmth that made you wish the moment wouldn't end.
Richard is survived by his wife, Sue; brother Bill of Richmond, VA; daughter Debbie Coleman, and her husband, Todd; son Todd Jeffrey, and his wife, Lauren; and granddaughters Audrey, Jillian, Lizzie, and Ellie. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jean and Warren Jeffrey.
