Obituary
Richard Paul Martinez Sr., age 52, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on Saturday March 10, 2018, at St. John's Hospital in Tulsa.
Richard was born May 1, 1965 in Yonkers, New York to Ramon Martinez and Rose (Esposito) Woods. He graduated from Yonkers High School in 1983.From there Richard obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree from National Louis University. Richard went on to earn a master's degree in business administration from Southern Nazarene University. On January 3, 1985 he married the love of his life, Trudie Melissa Liman. Richard was an Air Force veteran, which took him all the way to Osan Air Force Base in Korea. He was the owner of Russo's Coal Fire Italian Kitchen, and President and Owner of Continental Wire Cloth.
Some of Richard's hobbies included golfing, boating, and fishing. He also had a passion for coaching youth in football and baseball. His love for sports started at a young age by watching his favorite teams: the New York Jets, New York Mets, and his favorite THE U…. the Miami Hurricanes! In recent years he helped Booker T. Washington High School earn a National Football Championship. Several years ago, he also coached Holland Hall's 5th Grade football team, where he fell in love with the strong bond of the Holland Hall community. Richard's passion for coaching started with coaching his older son in recreational soccer and t-ball in Winter Haven, Florida. His biggest passion was family.
Richard is survived by: his father Ramon and mother Rose; wife of 33 years, Trudie; sons, Richard Jr. (Sarah), and Ryan; and grandkids, Peyton and Asher. He is also survived by 11 brothers and sisters, Anthony Martinez (Mary), Anna Martinez, George Martinez (Monique), Ivonne Martinez, Edward Kalinoski (Amber), Debbie Martinez, Nicole Avimov (Stan), Amber Sanchez (Chad), and Teresa Prescott (Ben). He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Oneida Martinez, and sister, Jessica Martinez.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, March 14th, 201, at 1:00 pm, at Fitzgerald Southwood Colonial Chapel, 3612 E. 91st Street South, Tulsa.
