CARTER, Robert DeVere, passed away April 2, 2014, Tulsa, Oklahoma. Born in Kaufman, Texas, August 17, 1929 to DeVere Vaught and Charlie (Slaughter) Carter. He received a BS, Mathematics, University of Texas, 1951, and BS and Master of Engineering degrees, Petroleum Engineering, Texas A&M, 1955.He married Nadine Sivley in August, 1951. They had two children, David Robert (deceased) and Elise Ann. Nadine preceded him in death in 1997. He married Mary Charlene in 1999.He was a physicist at the Naval Air Missile Test Center, Point Magu, California. He was at Amoco in the Research Department from 1955-1986. He authored seventeen published papers and two patents. Memberships included Society of Professional Engineers, Society of Petroleum Engineers, Lambda Chi Alpha, San Jacinto Descendants, Phi Kappa Phi, Sigma Xi, and the Academy of Distinguished Petroleum Engineering Graduates of Texas A&M. He was the 1992 recipient of the SPE Reservoir Engineering Award and the SPE Legion of Honor.He was a sincere follower of Christ, and a member of the Anglican Church. He gave generously, volunteered at the Day Center for the Homeless, and was a reading and poetry volunteer with young children. He loved horses, dogs, music, and UT Longhorn football.He is survived by his loving wife Mary Charlene of the home, daughter Elise and husband John Oliver and their four children of Lawrence, KS, stepsons John, Jim and Jeff and their families, niece Nancy Sweeney, nephew Ted Norman and wife Gretchen, and cousin Diana Boles.The family suggests memorial contributions to the Tulsa Day Center for the Homeless, 415 West Archer St., Tulsa, OK 74103. Services will be held 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, April 8, 2014 at Church of the Holy Spirit Anglican, a visititation will be held Tuesday, 12:30 P.M. - 1:30 P.M. at Church of the Holy Spirit Anglican.
