Obituary

Robert Dean Dillsaver passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 24, 2019 at the age of 87. He was born on a farm near Okmulgee, Oklahoma on August 10, 1931. During his early years, he helped his parents and grandparents on their farms and the ethics of doing hard work stayed with him his entire life.

He attended high school in Okmulgee until his father was transferred to Kansas City, Kansas in 1949. He completed his senior year of high school there, and he met Phyllis Joan Allen. He was married to Phyllis from 1951 until her passing in 1989, and they were blessed with two daughters.

Bob served in the US Coast Guard during the Korean War, and afterward he graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a bachelor's degree in Business Administration. He spent his entire career of 30 years with the Cities Service Oil Company where he started at the company's refinery in East Chicago and quickly rose through the ranks to advance to Vice-President at the corporate offices on Wall Street at the age of 37. Soon after completion of Harvard's Advanced Management Program in 1972, he became a Senior-Vice President at the company.

During his lifetime, he was active in business organizations including American Petroleum Institute, the National Industrial Relations Group, the National Safety Council, the American Red Cross and the Business and Industry Training Council and was a lifetime member of the President's Associates at the University of Oklahoma.

Upon his retirement, Bob served as Executive-in-Residence for one year in the College of Business Administration at Oklahoma State University. He enjoyed woodworking, hunting trips to Africa and Scotland, Alaskan fishing trips, and travels to Europe, China and Japan. He thrived in his role as grandfather to his three beloved grandchildren. When asked what he considered to be his major milestone in life, he replied, "having grandchildren and becoming 'Gandan.'" He also cherished his partnership with Adelle Beathe during the last two and a half decades of his life.

He is survived by Adelle Beathe; his daughters, Katharine Dillsaver and Margaret Dillsaver; and grandchildren, James Schaerer, Robert Schaerer (Whitney) and Elizabeth Schaerer. A memorial service will be held at Fitzgerald's Southwood Colonial Chapel Family Center in Tulsa at 11am on Friday, May 3, 2019. Interment at Memorial Park Cemetery in Tulsa will be a private family ceremony. Per Bob's request, in lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Helping Hand Ministry (Attn: Treasurer, 709 S. Boston Ave., Tulsa, OK 74119).
