Robert Billy Epperson of Tulsa, Oklahoma, was born to Goldie and R.D. Epperson on August 14, 1918. He went to his Lord on March 10, 2016. Billy was a proud graduate of Tulsa's Central High School. He served in World War II in the 18th Engineer Combat Battalion; he was one of the men who braved the bitter elements to build the Alaska Highway. Billy was a welder for the City of Tulsa Water Department for 35 years and longtime member of both St. Catherine and Holy Family Catholic Churches.
In addition to his parents, Billy was preceded in death by his twin daughter, Kathleen Epperson Mays. He is survived by: his loving wife of 71 years, Marjorie Griffin Epperson; his daughters, Rosemary Epperson and Patricia Wingate; grandchildren, Amy Douglas and her husband, Scott, Wesley Gray, Andy Gray and his wife, Wendy, and David Wingate and his wife, Natalie. He was blessed with four great-grandchildren, Elise Douglas and Harper, Eliza and Walter Wingate.
Billy devoted his life to his family. He worked tireless hours repairing water lines for the residents of the City of Tulsa. Numerous times he was away from his family for days ensuring that Tulsa's citizens had water in their homes and businesses. He was known in his family as Mr. Fix It -"Call Uncle Billy, he can fix anything."
A team of dedicated professionals at Tulsa Jewish Retirement Center cared for him during the last year and a half of his life. He delighted in selecting a new "girlfriend" from his caring staff every other week. He entertained those around him with his colorful stories, and he was concerned more about the well-being of the other residents than himself.
His family is grateful to the caring doctors who spent years providing him with excellent care, to name a few - Dr. Charles Stewart, Scott Cole, John Carment, and Walter Peters.
