Obituary

Robert L. Garland was born May 5, 1971 in Barbourville, Kentucky, and passed away at the age of 52, on September 3, 2023 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Rob was preceded in death by his father, James Garland and survived by his loving mother, Adeline Garland of New Lenox, Illinois.

Rob is also survived by three siblings, brother, Ken Garland and his wife, Pamela, of Manhattan, Illinois; sister, Karen Antkowski and husband, Patrick, of Sussex, Wisconsin; brother, Jerry Garland and wife, Barbara, of Tulsa, Oklahoma. Rob was dearly loved by a host of nieces and nephews and their families.

Rob was joined in marriage to Tonya Adams on November 7, 1992, and they were proud to welcome one son into their union. Zachary James Garland was born on October 18, 1993, in Elmhurst, Illinois. Zach is not only the namesake of Rob's father, he is a faithful son who selflessly supported his dad and stood by him until his very last breath. Rob was extremely proud of the man that Zach grew into and the life and home they were building together in Tulsa. These were the happiest days of their lives together.

While Rob spent most of his earlier years in the Chicagoland area, he moved to Madison, Wisconsin where he settled in and called home. This is where he made life-long friends and launched a successful business, Northern Lights Entertainment. Rob had a larger-than-life personality. He had many adventures but was passionate about creating experiences that would be remembered for a lifetime. He was loved by all.

Rob was a sports enthusiast and loyal fan of the Chicago Cubs and Denver Broncos. One of Rob's favorite sports was disc golf and he celebrated his first Ace on hole 7 at The View in Middleton, Wisconsin, in September 2022. Rob was also an avid golfer and played his last round of golf with his brother, Jerry, in the last two weeks prior to his passing.

After 23 years in Wisconsin, Rob decided to live out the remainder of his life in Tulsa, Oklahoma with Zach. He said his priorities were God first, family was a close second, and the Chicago Cubs completed who he was. Anyone that knew Rob could tell you that his mantra was Carpe Diem. He lived it every day of his life. But that became even more evident as he surrendered his life to Christ and spent every day from that moment on seeking a personal relationship with his Lord and Savior. He experienced so many firsts... praying until he reached heaven for himself, baptism, communion, being a member of Church On The Move - West and creating a legacy through his beautiful testimony which will be told for generations to come.

Funeral Services will be at 1 PM, on Friday, September 8th, 2023, at Fitzgerald Ivy Chapel, 14th and South Boulder Avenue, in Tulsa.
