Robert Joseph "Bob" Glahn
January 4th, 1936 ~ August 2nd, 2023
Bob was born in Lawrence, Kansas, and graduated from Lawrence Memorial High School in 1954. He went on to earn a degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Kansas. Bob joined the US Army Reserve out of college and served at Ft. Riley. Bob's first engineering job out of school was in Wichita, Kansas, where he worked at Cessna, and then Beech Aircraft, in Boulder. He worked on the Apollo program with North American aviation which brought him to Tulsa. Aerospace was his passion and he often bragged about getting a chance to tour one of the Apollo spaceships on the launchpad. After cutbacks in the aerospace industry, Bob worked with Hankey Valve (where was awarded numerous design patents}. Bob finished his working career with the Army Corps of Engineers where he designed new military facilities. Bob loved bluegrass music and enjoyed playing the banjo. Roy Clark, Flatt and Scruggs, and the Old Crow Medicine Show were some of his favorite artists.
Bob will be missed by his friends and family as he was always pleasant, and quick to smile.
Bob was interred near other family members in Memorial Park Cemetery, in Lawrence, Kansas.
