Obituary

Robert Francis Hill

Born February 11, 1923 to William and Agnes Hill in Queens, NY. He grew up with his foster brother, Thomas Wolfe active and curious taking an interest in photography and the outdoors. In 1943, he was enlisted in the US Army and served in the India-Burma Theater of World War II as part of the Quarter Master Trucking Company. Following the war, he worked for Cadbury Adams Chiclet Factory where he met and fell in love with Catherine Witowski from Greenpoint (Brooklyn) and married June 6, 1945. He became very involved in electronics which paved the way for him to get a job working as a camera man for WOR – TV, then later for the prestigious National Broadcasting Company at Rockefeller Center. His tenure with NBC started in the early days of live television. He was one of the cameramen for the Howdy Doody Show, Steve and Eydie Gorme and a new female news correspondent, Barbara Walters. When TV was transitioned from New York to Burbank, California, he decided to stay in New York and became a video editor for various national shows and commercials. He was frequently requested by numerous directors to edit their shows. He ended his career as one of the Senior Editors for the Today Show as was proud to have his name shown on the credits every week.
He retired 35 yrs ago becoming an avid ham radio operator. He moved from Monroe New York to New Port Richey Florida and later to Tulsa, Oklahoma. He died May 26th at the age of 90. He is survived by his wife Catherine Hill of Tulsa, and children and spouses Robert and Liz Hill of Nevada , Gregory and Cynthia Hill of Tulsa, Oklahoma and Katherine Hill of Mahwah, New Jersey. Grandchildren: Robert Hill of Nevada, Jennifer and Chris Chase Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, Jordan Hill of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and Victoria Hill of Mahwah, New Jersey.

Mass of Christian Burial 2:00 P.M. Friday, Saint Bernard of Clairvaux Catholic Church.
