Obituary
Robert Joels, loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather passed away on Monday, January 9th, at the age of 95.
Bob was born to Charles and Thelma Joels in St. Louis, Missouri, on December 27, 1921. He grew up with his brother, Irving, and sister, Mary, in Clarinda, Iowa where his family owned a dry goods and clothing store. Bob played football and was a champion swimmer in High School. He attended Oklahoma University where he lettered in swimming before graduating with a BA degree. During WWII, he served as a naval officer which included time in the Pacific Theater. Bob had a life-long career in retail and managed multiple retail chains. He retired from May's Drug in 1992.
Affectionately known as "Papa", he is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Gloria Joels; brother, Irving Joels and wife Diane of Louisville, KY; son Sam Joels and wife Jennifer, son Andrew Joels and wife Michelle, son Art McKinney and wife Roberta; daughter Carey Ramsby, all of Tulsa, OK; 12 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents and sister, Mary (Joels) Berman.
Graveside Service is Thursday, January 12, 2017, 2 PM, at Rose Hill Memorial Park Cemetery (Old Temple Section).
