Obituary

Dr. Robert Ellis Pitcock Jr., D.D.S. passed on January 31, 2025 surrounded by his loving family
at the age of 90. He was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma as the only child of Robert E. Pitcock Sr and Ramon Madison Pitcock. He graduated from Oklahoma Military Academy in 1953 and attended the University of Tulsa graduating in 1958 with a Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Arts degree. He then went on to dental school at the University of Missouri at Kansas City. In August 1960 he married Marian Louise Murray. After graduating from dental school in 1962 he enlisted and served in the United States Air Force as Captain in the Reserve Dental Corps from 1962-1965. They were stationed at Elemendorf Air Force Base in Anchorage, Alaska. In 1967 they moved back to Tulsa to raise their growing family where he opened his solo dental practice at the Petroleum Club Building until moving south closer to home and schools for his four children. He retired in 1999 after 37 years of dental practice.

He met the love of his life, Marian, in the summer of 1953 at the University of Tulsa. Their first date was a TU football game their sophomore year. They spent many hours studying together at the TU library. They married on Aug 2, 1960 at Christ the King Catholic Church in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

While stationed in Alaska he had the opportunity to explore the mountains and big game hunt Alaskan brown bears and mountain goats. They experienced the Great Alaska earthquake of 1964 before making their way to Connecticut and then back home to Tulsa to raise their family.

Bob, also known as "Tooth" to many, had an ear for music and loved all genres, especially classical. He played the trumpet at Wilson Junior High school, Will Rogers High School and Oklahoma Military Academy. He enjoyed going to symphony concerts and playing music in the home and his practice.

He volunteered his dental skills at Neighbor for Neighbor, was an active member in the Rotary Club of Tulsa Southside, and a supporter of John 3:16 and Guiding Eyes for the Blind.

During his retirement years he enjoyed international travel with Marian and friends to far off places. He also became consumed with the love he had for his nine grandchildren and taking an active role in all their lives. He would do anything for them. He loved playing softball with the Wolf Pack team, watching the Dallas Cowboys, reading and

He will fondly be remembered for his generosity, kindness, love, time and talents offered to family, friends, neighbors and strangers along with his love for animals. He had a wonderful sense of humor, enjoyed story-telling and loved being outdoors for any reason whether keeping an immaculate lawn, boating or hunting. He was a true Renaissance man.

He is survived by his wife Marian, and four children: Dr. Christopher J. Pitcock, Elaine P. Harter and her spouse, Dave, Robert E. Pitcock and his spouse, Adrienne, and Laura L Jarrett.
Grandchildren: Blake, Braden and Madison Pitcock, Matthew and Christopher Harter,
Laura Anne and Steven Pitcock, Brooke Jarrett Forbus and her spouse, Casey,
and Jake Jarrett.
Great grandchildren: London Pitcock and Whitley Forbus.
