Robert Henry Schmitz was born December 24, 1919, son of Nicholas and Anna Stover Schmitz at Beloit, Kansas. He passed from this life on May 11, 2015 at the age of 95. Bob married Helene A. Whitmer November 25, 1948, at Holy Name Catholic Church, Topeka, Kansas

He is survived by his wife, Helene and 3 children Patricia and Michael Miller of Tulsa, OK; Robert Michael and Deborah Schmitz of Katy, TX; and David and Barbara Schmitz of Kingman Arizona and 9 grandchildren: Jennifer Miller of Oklahoma City, OK; Douglas and Lindsey Miller of Moore, OK; Elizabeth and Austin Park of Tulsa, OK; Rebecca Miller of Naples, Italy; Kara and RJ Voorhies of Katy, Texas; Ashley Schmitz and Julie Schmitz of Katy, Texas and Jonathan Schmitz and Robert Schmitz of Kingman, AZ and 2 great grandchildren Audrey Miller of Moore, OK and Jack Brown of Oklahoma City, OK.

Bob worked at Ft. Riley Kansas during World War II. In July 1951 he started work at Kansas Farm Bureau Insurance Company where he worked until he retired in 1986. After living in Manhattan, Kansas for 67 years he and his wife Helene moved to Tulsa, OK in 2005.

Bob was a 50 year member of the Knights of Columbus, a member of the Riley County Senior Center and a charter member of Manhattan LTD dance club. Bob enjoyed dancing, playing bridge and gardening. He coached baseball for both his sons and was an avid sports fan. He and Helene never missed a Manhattan High School or KSU football game.

Services will be held Friday, May 15, 2015 at 1pm at St. Bernard of Clairvaux Catholic church in Tulsa, OK. Visitation will be held 5-7 pm followed by a Rosary at 7pm ,Thursday both at Fitzgerald Southwood Colonial Chapel.
