Robert Joseph Tutty, 66, passed away peacefully in his home on December 8, 2009. He was born August 29, 1943 in Tulsa, OK, the son of Murle and Mildred Tutty. Robert was a graduate of Tulsa Central High School in 1963, and attended the University of Oklahoma. After college, he took over the management of the Chouteau Telephone Company. As owner and president Robert was a tireless advocate on behalf of the independent telephone industry. He was the first to become involved in operations of cable television and cellular telephone in the state of Oklahoma. He was the past President of Independent Cellular Telephone Company, a partner of United State Cellular of Greater Tulsa. Robert was currently the owner and Vice President of Hospitality Specialists, which operates Village Inn Restaurants in northwest Arkansas. Robert was an avid supporter of OU football and a loyal Dodger fan. He was a gourmet chef and loved cooking for family and friends. He is survived by his wife, Phyllis of the home. He is also survived by: his sister, Patricia Lane and husband, Clint of Pryor; nephew, Keith Nedwick of Norman; niece, Michelle Embrey; and great-nephew, Hunter Embrey of Joplin, MO; and a multitude of good friends. Robert was preceded in death by his mother and father, Mildred and Murle Tutty. Services are scheduled at 2 p.m. Thursday, December 10, 2009 at St. James United Methodist.
