Robert Eugene Upton, 64, passed away on March 7, 2024, unexpectedly succumbing to pneumonia during a recent hospitalization. "Bob" to those he worked with, and "Bobby" to his family, was born August 1,1959 to James and Sarah Upton. His parents owned the Upton supermarket and gas station in Oakhurst, where Bob worked along side his siblings while he attended Bishop Kelley High School and studied welding at the Tulsa Technology Center. Always a hard worker and a natural born leader, he quickly earned supervisory positions everywhere he worked; Superior Hard Surfacing, HAMMCO, and finally, OGI Processing Equipment where he was named plant manager. While work was a priority, his greatest love was family. He was a devoted father to his only child, Melissa Kay, from his first marriage. He later met and married the love of his life, Linda (Lowe) Upton, in 1995 and they embarked on many fantastic adventures. The only other activity that came close to his love of family was his love of travel and the great outdoors. Bobby was an avid outdoorsman and sitting by a large campfire during "deer season" brought him immense joy. He loved frosty fall mornings and started planning months in advance for "deer camp", although, he could not have anticipated the time when a group of giggling young nieces dotted his head with bingo daubers while he slept. He just smiled and laughed because, in his opinion, children could "do no wrong". He would often be found with a smiling, laughing, group of adoring nieces and nephews that he plied with sugar-laden treats and golf cart rides. He was always eager to share his knowledge of hunting, fishing, building, and welding to anyone who was willing to learn. To have something that was "Bobby-built" meant that it was made of quality material, detailed craftsmanship, and would last a lifetime. He is survived by his wife, Linda, of the home, and his daughter, Melissa (Upton) Colson. He is also survived by his siblings: James Jr. and his wife, Elizabeth * Stephen * Terrance and his wife, Tracy *Paul * Matthew and his wife, Mary Ann * Mark and his wife, Shonna * and sister, Lucy. Bobby was preceded in death by his parents and youngest sister, Teresa Lynne. A memorial is scheduled for 1 p.m. on March 22, 2024, at the Church of Saint Mary, 1347 E 49th Pl., Tulsa, OK 74105.
