Ronald Wayman Horton was born to Harley Dove and Texana Horton on December 28, 1941 in Shreveport, Louisiana.

His mother died when he was 3 and his father married Eva who loved him as her own. He had 1 step-brother, Buddy and 1 step-sister, Eva Cille.

Ron grew up in Shreveport and Bossier City, LA. His mother, Eva was his third grade teacher.

Ron formed a band while in high school and played and sang, as lead singer, all of the popular songs of the 50's and 60's. He could still remember all of the words and sings any you mention. He liked Chuck Barry and the guitar playing of James Burton, Elvis' lead guitarist. He played with his nephew, Glen, in the 100 Guitar Players Anniversary Celebration for James Burton several years ago in Shreveport.

Ron graduated from Louisiana Tech and T.U. and was a psychologist for the Tulsa Public Schools for 30 years. His expertise was called on many times by the administration and his colleagues.

Ron loved to dance and we danced many times into the night when we were young.

His sailboat, The Black Swan, is his pride and joy, but he is selling it now. We spent many hours on his first boat many years ago and once again the last few years on the Black Swan.

Ron produced a "James Bond" movie 2 years ago using himself and action figures as the stars. He wrote clever dialogue, staged scenes, designed costumes, and did the filming. It is a fun, exciting movie-not our usual home movie.

He also produced a second movie for his grandsons about pirates and made them the stars.

Ron built a large diorama of a castle with a mote, roads, people, animals, and knights on horseback. It was fabulous!

Then he built a Roman Colosseum complete with decorated rooms and people. He made togas for all the people using Kleenex and paste. It, too, was fabulous!

Ron made a large series (a collection) of medieval heraldic shields. They are on heavy poster board and drawn and hand-painted. They represent authentic heraldic shields and they line the walls of our den. They are beautiful!

Ron's greatest thrill was deep sea diving in the Caribbean at St. Lucia and Barbados.

But, maybe, his all-time thrill was kissing a tiger! We visited Safari Wildlife Sanctuary and he walked and played with the tiger; they kissed several times, and played footsie with each other.

Ron's interests were so numerous:

Medieval history - especially Richard III and the Lancaster/York history. (Quite an authority), World War II history, psychology, sailing, knights, painting, Egyptian history, reading, designing houses (2 for us), antique hunting with Theresa, European trips - England, France, Germany, Spain, Austria, Caribbean trip - St. Lucia, Barbados, US - Washington D.C., Aberdeen Tank Museum, and Memphis (Elvis' home.)

Ron's son Darrell is married to Michele. They have 2 sons - Drake, 21 and Trent, 11. They live in Georgia. Ron and Darrell have always had a unique wonderful relationship.

Ron was a brilliant man and could converse on just about any subject.

P.S. He loved cats and was looking for one to adopt just recently but he still missed our beloved Morris, a yellow tabby.

He was Theresa's love and life and she was his. He was her knight and shining armor - so handsome, so full of life, so sentimental, so very loving. He gave us years of memories and a wonderful life and he will always be with us. To know him was to love him, so "Here's looking at you kid," and a great adventure it was!
