Obituary

Rose Anna McLain, 78, of Tulsa, died Thursday, December 1, 2016, at OSU Medical Center in Tulsa. She was the daughter of Edward Mack and Mary Thelma (Quinn) Pierce, born January 16, 1938, in Tucumcari, New Mexico.

She was a graduate of OU with a Bachelor's degree, going on to work as a Cytologist in the medical field until she retired in 2003.

At a young age, she was stricken with polio, however, not even that could slow her down or prevent her from doing the things she wanted to do, which is why in her lifetime she wore many different "hats" that would change either on a weekly, daily, or sometimes even hourly basis. Many of those "hats" included wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, guardian of her mentally challenged brother and sister, Camp Fire leader for about 20 years, caregiver, and a constant proof of showing everyone that just because you have a physical disability, it doesn't make you disabled and that anyone can do anything if you set your mind to do it. She let nothing slow her down or hold her back; she just "re-invented" a way to do things. She also loved her animals and considered them her "babies".

Rose Anna married Charles Eugene McLain (of Tulsa) on November 24, 1960, in Guymon, OK, at St. Peters Church. They started their married life in Tulsa, which is where they stayed.

She is preceded in death by: her parents; husband, Charles Eugene McLain on February 26, 2009; 1 sister; and 2 brothers.

She is survived by: 3 daughters, Eva Christina and husband Kelly Dee Miller of Bunch, OK, Paula Marie and husband Robert Dean Robison of Tulsa, Gail Ann and husband Richard Lee Finnell, Jr., of Owasso, OK; 9 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; 4 brothers; 3 sisters; and many nieces and nephews.

Viewing will be held on Sunday, December 4, 2016, at Fitzgerald's Ivy Chapel, 1402 S. Boulder Ave., Tulsa, OK, from 1:00 to 6:00 pm. Respects can be made to the family during family viewing time from 3:00 to 5:00 pm.

Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, December 6, 2016, at St. Francis Xavier, 2515 E. 1st Street South, Tulsa, OK, at 10:30 am, with Father Dye officiating. Dinner will follow at Oakridge Baptist Church, 6103 S. 44th West Ave., Tulsa, OK.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Gatesway Foundation, Inc., 1217 E College St, Broken Arrow, OK 74012 .
