Obituary

Samuel Robert "Bobby" Greenberg, born April 27, 1930, died peacefully in his home on August 13, 2015. Son of Abraham and Anna (neé Schneir), originally of Verclan, Latvia, and brother of Shirley, all deceased. Survived by loving wife Marillyn (neé Hersh, originally of Wichita, KS), son Avrom and family (wife Valerie Harper and daughter Elianna Greenberg), of Greenwich, CT, and daughter Hilary Genga and family (husband John, son Jacob and daughter Emery), of Encino, CA.

Born in and a lifelong resident of Tulsa, Bobby graduated from Central High School and attended the University of Oklahoma, where he earned a bachelor's degree in business and played for the Sooners 1950 national championship football team under legendary coach Bud Wilkinson. He served during the Korean War as a military police lieutenant in the U.S. Air Force. Affable, sincere and with a silly yet squeaky-clean sense of humor, Bobby enjoyed a long career in sales in the oil industry, where he had his own business, Bulldog Pipe & Supply, and also worked with Henry Zarrow and Sooner Pipe & Supply. He married Marillyn in Tulsa in 1956 and, never having had pets growing up, came to share her love for dogs, accompanying her to shows, helping her teach puppy training at the Tulsa Dog Training Club, and leaving behind two Pomeranians and a Shih-Tzu.
