Mrs. Sandra Edmunds (Sorrels) Herod, of Dallas, Texas, born on April 6, 1935 in El Paso,
Texas, to the late Ruby Pearson Sorrels and the late Forrest Vernon Sorrels, passed away at
age 83 on December 8, 2018 in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Her father, the late Forrest Vernon Sorrels, was the Special Agent in Charge in the Dallas
Headquarters of the US Secret Service at the time of the Kennedy assassination. Mrs.
Edmunds Herod graduated from Highland Park High School in Dallas, and North Texas State
University with a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education. It was there where she met her
first husband, the late Augustus Craft Edmunds, Jr., to whom she was married for 41 years.
Ten years after her first husband's passing, she married the late Robert Herod to whom she
was married for eight years before his passing in 2016.
While Sandra stayed home with their four children, Augustus Craft Edmunds worked as a
systems engineer for IBM. The family was relocated several times from Dallas to New York,
back to Dallas, Denver, and finally settling in Tulsa in 1977 for the remainder of her life. After
her children had grown, Sandra became involved in many hobbies and activities that kept her
busy and engaged until her passing. She was an avid gardener and took much pride in her
beautiful flower beds and hanging baskets. She also enjoyed taking road trips with her
husband, Bob, practicing yoga, Jazzercise, and attending Monday School at first Presbyterian
Church. Sandra was a loving wife, devoted mother, and a wonderful friend.
She was preceded in death by her son, Augustus "Chip" Edmunds, III. Sandra is survived by
her daughters, Laura Bishop, Karen Cohen, and Holly Stull; brother, Charles Sorrels;
