Sandra Kay Kappus, loving daughter of Eugenia "Da" Doolin, passed away Friday, April 10, 2026 at 2:00AM. Sandra was born on July 22, 1936 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She married Robert Joseph Kappus of Tulsa, Oklahoma on November 22, 1969. Their family grew to include their son, Robert Blair Kappus and daughter Blythe Elizabeth Kappus (Cox).
Sandra was survived by her loving and devoted husband of 56 years, Bob Kappus, and her brother, Mike Doolin of Tulsa. Also surviving are her son Robert Blair Kappus (Enid, OK), daughter-in-law Kelli Kappus, grandchildren Addison and Anderson, daughter Blythe Elizabeth Cox (Jackson, WY), son-in-law Colby Cox, grandchildren Cade, Isabelle, and Axel. Additionally, she was survived by numerous in-laws, nieces, and nephews whom she deeply loved.
Sandra graduated from Will Rogers High School in 1957. She then attended the University of Tulsa where she earned a degree in Education. Upon graduation, Sandra returned to Will Rogers High School where she taught business machines and shorthand. Sandra resigned from teaching in May of 1973 with the birth of her first child. Once both children were in school, Sandra returned to work as a school secretary at Children's Medical Center and eventually moved to the Tulsa Public School Educational Service Center. Sandra finally retired in 2002.
While Sandra was a faithful and active parishioner of Madalene Catholic Church since 1974, she officially became a member of the Holy Catholic Church on April 3, 2023.
Sandra remained active throughout her life. Early in life she was an avid ballet dancer, and continued to enjoy dance vicariously through her daughter. She enjoyed swimming, water and snow skiing, reading, scrapbooking, and being with friends and extended family. While she enjoyed all these things, nothing brought her greater joy than spending time with her husband, children and their families.
For those wanting to honor Sandra's memory, donations can be made in her name to Catholic Charities of Tulsa.
