Obituary

Sandra (Sandy) Klein, Age 94, died on June 5, 2025 in Tulsa, OK.

Sandy was born in New York City to Harry and Ruth Posner. She grew up in New York City during the depression and WW2 years. Sandy attended Hunter College in New York City where she studied journalism and political science, and University of Tulsa to study education where she earned a master's degree. Sandy taught elementary school in New York City. Sandy married her husband, Herb, in 1954 and in 1960, Herb's business prospects moved them to Tulsa. Sandy and Herb raised two children, Richard and Hali. Sandy taught First grade in Tulsa Public Schools for about 30 years.

Outside of her family and school, Sandy was interested in politics and all things related to advancing education. She worked in various political and educational organizations. Once retired, she became become a Gilcrease Museum guide and enthusiast.

Sandy enjoyed traveling, watching New York Yankees baseball, University of Tulsa football and basketball, her dogs, and attending musical and theatrical productions.

Sandy was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Ruth Posner, and her husband, Alfred Herbert Klein. She is survived by her daughter, Hali Goss (Jeff) of Oklahoma City, her son Richard Klein (Patti Dalton) of Tulsa; grandchildren Sarah Klein (Kansas City), Alex Hamilton (Adeena) of Japan, Debra Goss Bishop (David) of Oklahoma City, Ben Klein (Heather) of Bixby, Amelia Abbott (Dave) of Siloam Springs, and Michelle Goss of Oklahoma City; as well as great-grandchildren Cooper Klein, Colbie Klein, Russell Abbott, Everly Abbott, Arch Bishop, and Sally Bishop.

Graveside Service will be 10 a.m., on Sunday, June 8th, at Rose Hill Memorial Park Cemetery, Tulsa.

The family wishes to recognize the staff at Zarrow Pointe Nursing for their skilled, kind, and creative caregiving and Miller Hospice for their gentle attention in final days.

In lieu of flowers, the family recommends making a donation to your favorite education charity.
