Obituary

Born as Sarah Lee Jane Day to LeRoy Day and Maggie Etta Rider on July 22, 1942. She was born in Choteau, OK, her younger years were spent in Sandtown Oklahoma City, OK with her Uncle Wiley Vann and Aunt Janie Vann. As a preteen she moved to Bartlesville OK and attended Douglas High School. She had a total of five siblings: William Burgess Sr. (Sister-In-Law: Verna Burgess), Corrine Chambers (Brother-In-Law: Harland Chambers ) and Mary Burgess (Mae). Sarah also had two half Siblings: William Day and Theresa Grayson.

She had five children: Pamela Martin, Elliott Martin, Paula Recess, Leeta Johnson (Son-In-Law: Louis Johnson) and Tara Clayton (Son-In-Law: Larry Clayton). She would have ten grandchildren : Toya Roberts ( Roy Roberts), Tory Martin, Stoney Recess , Adreen Martin, Alexis Martin, Acima Martin, Elliottka Henderson, Duynna Henderson Jr, Shantel Stone and Elliott Zackery. And a host of Great and Great Great Grandchildren.

In 2005, Sarah married the love of her life; Isiah Jefferson, Jr. they met in Tulsa. They later moved to Lawton, Okla to assist her daughter with a vending contract at Fort Sill Army Post.

Sarah knew the Lord as her Savior and this would be a fact that no one could argue. She was active in her church and loved to assist anyone in need. She believed in hard work and making a difference however possible. She also loved to sing and was a dedicated member of the Oil Capital Lady's (Singing Group). She would attend Eastside Baptist Church in Lawton where she took part in the choir. She participated in several organizations such as Lawton Council of the Blind, Lawton Business Advisory Board and Christian Widow's Organization.

She was employed nearly twenty years at Taste T Canteen and Vending Service.

A Memorial Service will be on Friday, October 17, 2025, at 1:00 p.m., at Fitzgerald Ivy Chapel, 1402 S Boulder Ave, in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
