Stephanie Lynn Brownlee was born into Detroit, Michigan on December 19, 1952. She departed this life January 28, 2023, in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma at the age of 70 years, 1 month and 9 days. She was born to Irving Brownlee and Ethel Hill Brownlee in Detroit, Michigan. She moved to Cleveland, Ohio at an early age and attended Cleveland schools until her graduation in 1971. She completed her undergraduate studies at "The" Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio, with a degree in Social Work.
Prior to moving to Tulsa, Stephanie worked for Blue Cross and Blue Shield in Ohio, and she continued working for them after moving to Tulsa. Later she began her professional career as a Program Manager for McCathren and Associates, a contract provider agency with Oklahoma Department of Human Services (OKDHS). Upon ending her career with McCathren's, she began her career as a case manager with OKDHS Developmental Disabilities Services Division. She was instrumental in transitioning clients from The Hissom Memorial Center (a state-run institution for people with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities) to community living. She remained a case manager until her retirement in 2015.
Upon moving to Tulsa in 1988, she became a member of Victory Christian Center. Being a student of the Word, she attended Rhema Bible Training Center. She also attended and graduated from Victory Bible Institute (VBI). She had numerous involvements with Victory cell (now Victory Connect) groups, as: assistant leader of Victory's Workplace connect group at OKDHS until retirement, Victory's Ladies connect group until her homegoing, a tele-caller for Pastor Lynn Popenhagen's connect group members, and an off-site intercessor for Victory's GriefShare connect group for over 2 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Irving and Ethel Hill Brownlee, and her brother, Melvin Todd Brownlee. She is survived by her niece, Tremaine Brownlee, her great nephew, Anthony Axson, and several great-great nieces and nephews, all of Cleveland, Ohio. She is also survived by her best friend and housemate, "sister from another mother", Laura Maxwell of Tulsa, OK (17 years), and a host of other relatives, dear friends, and her Victory connect group.
Funeral Service will be Tuesday, February 7, 2023, 11 AM at Fitzgerald Southwood Colonial Chapel, 3612 E 91st Street South, Jenks, OK 74137.
