Obituary

Stephen W. Eberle, 55, died on August 5, 2011, following a brief illness. Steve was born in Albany, NY, and attended Christian Brothers Academy. He received his BS in Horticulture from Texas A & M University. He moved to Tulsa over 30 years ago and made it his home.

Stephen was predeceased by his father, George Eberle, and an infant brother, Eric. He is survived by his mother, Janeth Whittemore Eberle, his sister Marilyn, his brothers David, Paul, and Peter (Kristen) Eberle, his cousin Mark Randall, many nieces and nephews who loved their Uncle Steve, and his godchild Taylor Parish.

Steve's life goal was to make the world a better, more just place for everyone. He devoted his energies to increasing awareness of AIDS and gay rights, racial and cultural equality, and animal rights. He was a passionate teacher and touched the lives of everyone he met.

A Mass will be celebrated to honor Steve's life on Thursday, August 18, at 5:00 PM at Holy Family Cathedral in downtown Tulsa. There will be no calling hours in Tulsa. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Steve's name to Indian Health Care Resource Center of Tulsa, McLain School Foundation, AIDS Coalition of Tulsa, Oklahoma Humane Federation, Humane Society of the United States, or the charity of one's choice.

The Eberle Family would like to thank his Oklahoma family for their love and support, and the doctors, nurses, and staff at OSU Medical Center for their care of Steve during his hospitalization.
