Obituary

Stephen Pattison, a devoted husband and father whose patient, steady faith shaped a lifetime of service and love through banking and charity, died unexpectedly on Feb. 6, 2026. He was 79.

Stephen was born in Tulsa in 1946 to Mary Jane Redd and Robert Charles Pattison. After graduating from Cascia Hall in 1964, he attended Notre Dame before serving in the U.S. Army in Vietnam from 1966-1968. He completed his education at Oklahoma State University, earning a BS and MBA in Finance in 1972.

Following graduation, he began a long career in banking at Frontier Federal Savings & Loan in Ponca City. He then spent five years at Boswell Energy Corporation as Chief Financial Officer in Oklahoma City before returning to banking at Federal Home Loan Bank. He spent nearly 30 years at Bank of Oklahoma, beginning in Midwest City and subsequently transferring to Tulsa. As Senior Vice President and Manager of Corporate Banking and subsequently as Senior Vice President and Manager of Private Banking, he worked with a wide variety of companies across Oklahoma. He finished his professional career at F&M Bank (now Prosperity Bank) as Executive Vice President.

Throughout his career, Stephen had a humble heart for caring for others. He served on the board of the Oklahoma Center for Community & Justice (formerly National Conference for Community & Justice), Tulsa Housing Authority/Housing Partners of Tulsa, and was president of the board of Family & Children's Services Mental Health Division. He was also active in the St. Bernard of Clairvaux Finance Committee and the Tulsa Area United Way Funds Allocation Committee.

Beyond his professional accomplishments and community service, Stephen was defined by his faith. A lifelong and devout Catholic, he was a faithful member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Edmond and St. Bernard of Clairvaux in Tulsa, where he selflessly gave his time, talent and treasure. Through his years of service on finance boards at both parishes, Stephen left a tangible and lasting gift to God's church.

Stephen's presence was intentional and tireless. He made countless trips to the Houston area to watch his grandsons' basketball and football games, traveled the Turner Turnpike regularly to see Benjamin, and journeyed to Colorado to visit Frank and his family. He was always ready to help with a household project, and he sat through more cheer events, dance recitals, and competitions than most men would willingly endure - not out of obligation, but out of love.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Susan Pattison; his son Frances (Frank), his wife Tami, their daughter Morgan, and her daughter, Sophia; his daughter Amy, her husband Chris, and their sons Stephen, 22, and Michael, 20; and his daughter Megan, her husband Abraham, and their son Benjamin, 8.

A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, Feb. 21, 2026, at 10 a.m. at St. Bernard of Clairvaux Catholic Church in Tulsa under the direction of Fitzgerald's Funeral Service.
