Steven Hunter Newman, 32, of Tulsa, Oklahoma was in a tragic automobile accident and passed away on Saturday October 4, 2014. He was a native Texan who was born in Dallas on October 19, 1981 and raised in Plano by his loving parents Cyrus and Cathy Newman. Steve graduated from Plano Senior High school in 2000. He attended the University of Oklahoma and graduated from Northeastern State University receiving a B.S. He was to have graduated with his M.B.A. from NSU in 2015. He was currently employed at Williams as a Sourcing Consultant within Supply Chain Management.
Steve was a gentle and reserved soul with a profound love and dedication to his son Jacob. He had patience in spades combined with a dry wit that could quickly elicit a smile or laugh. He had a quiet wisdom beyond his years and a kind approach in dealing with others. He had a comforting presence that will live beyond his physical presence on earth. He was a motivated individual looking forward to progressing in his career path of supply chain management. Steve had also found the love of his life, Dr. Valerie Jolly, and they had planned to spend the rest of their lives together. He will live on forever in all our hearts.
Steve is survived by his sweet son, Jacob; his loving and devoted parents, Cyrus and Cathy Newman; his sister, Leslie Hornberger, and her husband, Brad, along with his niece and nephew, Nash and McKenna; his partner in life, Dr. Valerie Jolly; his grandmother, Maxine Morgan; his uncle and aunt, Michael and Janet Jones; his aunt, Kerry Newman; and his uncle and aunt, Richard and Sharon Newman. He is predeceased by his grandparents, Cyrus and Lillian Newman; his grandfather, Gordon Jones; his step-grandfather, William Morgan.
A memorial service celebrating Steve's life will be held Tuesday, October 7, at 2 p.m. at Asbury United Methodist Church, Mason Chapel, 6767 South Mingo Road, Tulsa, OK 74133 with a pending graveside service in Dallas, Texas.
