Steven Edward O'Brien was born on January 20, 1957 in Tulsa, Oklahoma to Henry and Marian O'Brien. He passed away April 30, 2026.
Steven graduated from Thomas A. Edison High School in 1975. Steven then attended and graduated from Oklahoma State University in 1979 with a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration. After graduating he worked in the Oil & Gas Compression Industry where he accomplished many accolades and accomplishments throughout his career.
More important to Steve was always his family and friends. Steve met the love of his life in Patty in Fort Smith in 1988. Steve and Patty were wed July 20, 1990 and he gained a son Breck. Steve and Patty welcomed Sarah in 1991. The family moved to the Oklahoma City area in 1996. Steve was always his happiest with his wife and children. When away, he enjoyed riding his motorcycles or tinkering in the garage.
Steven retired from the Oil & Gas Compression Industry after 40 years as a Regional General Manager. In retirement Steven loved to travel near and far by RV while living at the lake house off Lake Tenkiller. Steven is best known for his friendly smile, infectious laugh, and ability to make friends in no time. No matter the situation, Steven kept those around him always smiling.
Steven is survived by his wife Patty, daughter Sarah and her husband Jon Tarkowski of California, son, Breck of Arkansas, brother Kevin and his wife Collette of Colorado, and sister Marian "Mimi" Smock and her husband David of Oklahoma, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and in-laws he treated as closely as his own family as well as countless friends from all stages of his adventurous life.
Steven was preceded in death by his father, Henry, mother Marian, and his sister, Dr. Susan O'Brien.
A funeral service will be held Monday, May 4, 2026 at 1:00p.m., preceded by a viewing beginning at 12:00 p.m. (noon) at Fitzgerald Southwood Colonial Chapel located at 3612 E 91st Street, Tulsa.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in his name to the American Heart Association.
