Wood, Steven and Lisa
Steven Michael Wood, 50, of Jenks, OK died while on vacation in Antigua with his family December 23, 2009. His wife of 22 years, Lisa Kathryn (Brunetti) Thompson Wood, 46, of Jenks, OK followed him in death on December 27, 2009 after returning to Tulsa.
Mr. Wood was born December 2, 1959 to Harold C. Wood, MD and Virginia A. (Vancil) Wood in Tulsa. He graduated from Charles Mason High School in Tulsa in 1978, where he was drum major for the marching band and Junior Class President. He attended the University of Oklahoma, where he played the trumpet for the Pride of Oklahoma marching band and belonged to the Alpha Sigma Phi fraternity. He graduated with a degree in Journalism in 1983. He worked for PennWell publishing company in Tulsa as Exhibit Services Coordinator for twelve years. He was a devoted father and husband.
He is survived by his daughter Alayne Christine Thompson, his mother Virginia Wood and sister Susan (Wood) Guilford, Langley, OK, and brother Bruce Wood, Arlington, TX. Mr. Wood was preceded in death by his father Harold C. Wood, MD.
Mrs. Wood was born November 20, 1963 to Lenor P. Brunetti and Betty J. (Murdock) Brunetti in Springdale, AR. She graduated from Broken Arrow High School in 1982. She attended Northeastern State University and made the Dean's Honor Roll in 1985 and graduated in 1988 with a degree in Journalism. She was creative and enjoyed singing, gardening, and making jewelry.
She is survived by her daughter Alayne Christine Thompson, her parents Lenor and Betty Brunetti, Broken Arrow, OK, and her brother Rick Brunetti, Russellville, AR.
Funeral services for Mr. and Mrs. Wood will be held at 10:00 am Tuesday January 5, 2010, at the Boston Avenue United Methodist Church. Private family interment will follow in the Memory Gardens Cemetery at McAlester, OK. Contributions can be made to Doctors Without Borders or Heifer International. Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 pm Sunday January 3 at Fitzgerald's Southwood Colonial Chapel.
