Obituary

Susan Clare (White) Lukeman was born March 1, 1958 to Robert G. White II, MD and Clarice White, in San Antonio, Texas. After battling an aggressive cancer the past couple months, she died peacefully in her Tulsa home surrounded by her family on October 19, 2022. Susan grew up in Sapulpa and graduated from Sapulpa High School in 1976. Susan graduated with a degree in Journalism from the University of Oklahoma in 1980. While there, she served as OU Homecoming Chair, President of her beloved sorority Chi Omega, student Director of President's Leadership Class, and was named with numerous honors including One of Top Ten University Women. After meeting at OU, Susan married Greg in 1981. They began their life together in Ponca City, living there for 12 years, followed by three years in Houston, before settling down in Tulsa in 1996.

Susan's career involved multiple positions, from graphic designer at Conoco in her Ponca days, to real estate agent, until it all lead to eight years as Executive Director of Birthright of Tulsa.

Susan found purpose in her role as mother and grandmother. She devoted her adult life to raising her three kids and filling them with her love, encouragement, strength, and affinity for the color yellow. Her nine grandchildren loved their "Susu" immensely, and she created such a unique bond with each one of them that they will carry with them forever. Susan loved living in Tulsa with her family but even more, she loved her family's second home in the mountains in Colorado. She took numerous trips to the cabin to enjoy the cool mountain air, spectacular views, and brilliant yellow aspen in the fall.

To her friends, Susan was a ray of sunshine, filling their lives with her positive attitude and joy for life. She loved her friends dearly and as a social butterfly, packed her days with book clubs, bible study, pickle ball, walks, and of course, many conversations over a glass of wine. Susan was a passionate parishioner at St. Bernard of Clairvaux Catholic Church, where she participated in a weekly faith group in which she made strong friendships with faithful women such as herself.
Susan is predeceased by her father Robert G. White II, MD, her brother Robert G. White III, her sister-in-law Leah White, her brother-in-law Jim Behring, and recently her mother-in-law Jodie Lukeman.

Her family survivors include: husband Greg of 41 years; children and their spouses Claire Mattocks, DO, and Hunter; John Lukeman, DO, and Lauren; Anna Proctor and Brett; grandchildren Leah, Lydia, and Meredith Mattocks; Reese, Robert, and Rhett Lukeman; Brady, Susanna and baby girl Proctor; mother, Clarice White; sister, Robin White Mahone and Dave; brother, the Honorable Ronald A. White; and 10 nieces and nephews who she loved dearly as if they were her own.
